This week has been a reflective one. I wrote about 17 pages in my journal about any and every possible thing I could think of. I gain a lot of energy from spending time alone and, of course, spending time with Christ. I got a few scratches here and there but I know that the Lord has His hands on my shoulders.
I got into a bit of a tussle with my grandmother about my going to the World Race. I won’t go into heavy detail but she is not jumping on the family support wagon. I have forgiven her for her unpleasant outburst and I will be able to recover. I ask that anyone reading this should please keep her in your thoughts as she deals with a lot of personal issues (not just me!).
I have recently joined my parents in attending Elevation Church. The church sermon at Elevation Church for the past two weeks has been “Storytellers”. The various members of the Worship team, the lead Pastor himself and members of the church have been giving their testimonies to the congregation. The Pastor also shared several stories of King David, tying in simple bullet points to adhear to one’s personal life. I have struggled with myself for so long and I always enjoy hearing the trials and triumphs of others. I see that their lives have been forgiven by His hand and I am so glad to be Eternally forgiven.
My favorite part of the service, however, was the story of the classic hymnal “It Is Well with My Soul”. A man lost his four daughters in a shipwreck while his wife survived. He was in America as they were sailing to England and he received a telegram from his wife reading “saved alone”. He immediately booked a ship to England to join his wife. As he sailed across the Atlantic he felt a calming peace with the Lord. He went to one of the lower decks and wrote what is now one of the most famous Christian hymns of all time. As I heard the story I immediately began to weep. I was in awe at the simplicity of words and the compelling Power. I am often moved by the simplest things, but none as quickly as that hymn.
I have also signed up for a Church community group for 20 something women. I have been looking for a group of friends in Charlotte that aren’t as devious as some of my friends. I am also looking forward to being with a group of women who are in love with His Power. I look forward to nothing but the best in this group and I am ready to meet them.
I pray within this next week all of you will keep your minds open to forgiveness and hearts open to the Lord. Please continue to pray for me as I will be sending out all of my letters at the end of the week. I also ask for your prayers as I still continue to search for a job in the massage therapy industry. Thank you for all of your subscriptions!
