This is a blog for those who are confused or walking without faith. It is easy enough to target those within the family of believers but I cannot forget those of you outside the boundary lines.
Have you ever had an encounter with a believer and ended up leaving the conversation more confused than when you started? Did you feel more chastised than accepted? Was your heart met in the middle or did they leave you hanging out to dry?
While I type these questions, I can’t help but look at the obedient followers I meet on a daily basis. As I encounter fellow Christians in their various positions on the never-ending walk, I have to stand back and take a pretty good look at each one of them. Not one of us will ever have the exact same struggles or sit in the exact same spot as another. We all come from different places and God is revealing himself in different ways. He shows up and blows our narrow realm of understanding right out of the water, no matter where we stand in our faith. Our maturity is different, our hearts are different… the only thing we know we all have in common is our Father.
Sometimes I look at Christians who are going through things that seem so big to them but so insignificant to me. I wonder how come something that I really had to work to surrender to the Lord was so easy for someone else. I try and fathom what steps it took for me to be in the place I am standing in, but it can often be hard for me to try and backtrack to who I once was. It is hard for anyone to admit that they are troubled, but it is entirely something different to know that we are not alone in that place.
As often as I look at the people within the realm of believers, I also have to take a gander at those of you who are still dancing near or far from the line. You may have run into a Christian who was still relying on their own logical understanding of God to try and lead you to Christ. You may have met a Christian who was wrestling with the separation of human nature and total submission to the Lord. It’s possible that your heart wasn’t met in the middle because they weren’t sure of their heart themselves.
Just as you are on a different set of steps as the next person, so is every Christian. We may not be at the point where we can clearly hear His voice. We may not have all the right answers. We may confuse you because our spiritual maturity is not quite hitting the mark. Our walks are endless and always changing. God is meeting us right where we are and we want to meet you where your heart is. Whether you are ready to willingly give up your life for a life of Christ or you aren’t quite sure, God is ready for you. He will love you no matter what you do and we will always do our best to act as a vessel for His love. As it says in Matthew 26:41 “….the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak”.
