I want you to think about the place where you feel most relaxed. The zen zone where time is nothing but an illusion. The one place where your heart is blissful and your thoughts are worry free.
Now ask yourself what causes the worries of the world. What is incessantly idolized, ensnaring your thoughts and trapping your life into a state of frenzy? Do you catch yourself getting worked up over money? Are you filled with anxiety because your lifestyle doesn’t meet the status quo? Do you feel expected to have it all together? What in this world is good but just not good enough?
If I told you the answer to your worries were never in your horizontal way of viewing things, would you listen to me? I speak this because of our hosts here this month. 4 adults, 24 children and 2 babies are living by one rule: always ask vertical. If God wants us to have it then it will come, if He doesn’t, then it won’t. These people only do what they know, and that is to worship and praise His holy name. They have 4 houses to live in, beds, furniture, toiletries electronics, food and everything else in between given to them as a blessing from the Lord. So much is given to them that they are overflowing and running out of room! There is absolutely no worry in any of their hearts because they know their time can be spent doing something much greater than panicking.
The best part is knowing that this isn’t just a life fit for them. Seeing the Lord absolutely rain blessings down on them isn’t just incredible, but doable. Every joy-filled and worry free smile I see here makes me think of the American lifestyle: stuff. I remember constantly watching people bust their chops to live out the “dream“… but somehow they remain unsatisfied. The world I knew at home made it so hard to rely on anyone but yourself. America is designed for the constant worry of how to provide the ideal life, causing people to only focus on what they can do on their own.
In the end, I guess I am really wondering what you are going to see when you look back at your life here on earth. Were you only worry free when you stopped thinking about the world you’ve tried to design for yourself? What have you been obsessing about instead of asking the Lord for guidance? Have you been searching for fulfillment in the ways of the earth or are you looking higher? Did you take notice of blessings or did you register everything as a personal gain? Did you stop at nothing to get what you wanted? Have you stopped and asked the Lord to provide?
