My story
Hey y’all,
I’m Chase Robinson from Mansfield Texas. I’m really looking forward to sharing my adventures this year while on The World Race Gap year program. So, a little about me, I grew up in a Christian family my whole life but didn’t really take on the same faith as my family until I went to a Wyldlife camp which is for seventh and eighth grade kids. Growing up I was told that I was worthless, unwanted and unlovable because of who I was as a person and what I looked like. When I was younger I really struggle with my dyslexia which kids took advantage of to pick on me because I was couldn’t read or spell correctly. This really took a toll on me when I got into eighth-grade. At the end of my eighth-grade year I went to a Wyldlife camp which is Christian based. When I was there the message and theme of the camp was “You are fearfully and wonderfully made and wanted by God”. I had never really been told that by anyone which is why it had such a big impact on my life. After being at Wyldlife camp for only 5 days my life was changed. I went home with a new understand of this guy named Jesus and that we are all loved and wanted in his eyes despite what we have done and will do. After that summer, I moved up into High school and got connected into YoungLife. YoungLife is the high school version of WyldLife, they are both Christian based outreach programs for high school and middle school kids. High school kids have club on Monday nights at 7:57 at a church or wherever the leaders and area directors have found a place that will allow YL kids to use their building for club.
In 2016 and 2017 I volunteered at a YoungLife camp as a Workcrew member in Colorado called Crooked Creek Ranch. I lived there for a month out of my summer to serve the campers and leaders that were there to have the best week of their life. My job was to clean all of the toilets, floors, and much much more. By the end of summer 2017 I felt like God was calling me to be a Wyldlife leader so that I could reach kids right where they are and share Gods love with them the way my leader and the camp did for me when I was in eight-grade.
From July 2017 – now I am a WYL leader in Arlington Texas. I can honestly say I have loved getting to share the gospel with kids who know nothing about the Lord and show them that they are worthy of love and that they are wanted despite what they have done or what people have said about them. Through being a leader I have learned how to have compassion and to be soft towards the broken hearted. As of now God has been putting on my heart to go speak in different parts of the world and share the gospel with those who have absolutely nothing. I believe through the World Race I will learn to trust God in a whole new way and appreciate what I have alongside healing from past hurts from back home. One of the many reason I’m excited for the Race is that I get to backpack around the world while sharing Gods love!
