Hello! I’d love to humbly take a moment of your time to share what the Lord is doing in my life. This past year has been one of important transitions. I graduated from Worcester State University in May and I am currently working as an interpreter at Benoit Language Services. Since graduating, I’ve spent a lot of time seeking a more personal and intimate relationship with the Lord and the biggest transformation of the year has happened in my heart.

During this Christ-seeking season I read a book by John Piper—Adoniram Judson: How Few There Are Who Die So Hard—and my heart was re-broken for the poor and lost in the world. I have been on mission trips before, such as to Haiti and Jamaica, but this time was different. By reading this book, I knew God was calling me to leave for a longer period of time. I didn’t know what this would look like but I kept praying and things became much clearer once my friend mentioned The World Race. After praying and asking many questions, I began the interview and application process. And with much joy and excitement I come to you with the news that this coming summer, July 2013, I will serve as a missionary through The World Race program!

The World Race is a Christian mission trip in which you spend 11-months in 11 different countries (1 month in each country) around the world through an organization called Adventures in Missions (AIM). Through adventure, ministry, community, and self-discovery, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in human trafficking, and bring the restoration of our Heavenly Father’s love to many tribes and nations.

As the news has settled in and the date approaches, I’ve entered into a new season of preparation, which is why you’re receiving this letter. To make this mission possible I need a community of people who love me and/or believe in what I’m doing and is willing to commit to prayer and/or financial giving. Spiritually, there will be many challenges and celebrations during my one-year journey. Would you consider praying for me on a regular basis while I’m gone? I also need to raise a mandatory $1,250.00 per month ($15,000 for the entire year), which covers all my expenses on the field such as airfare, food, shelter, health insurance, ministry supplies, etc. Financial support can be given as a one-time gift or as a monthly donation, wherein, you choose the amount you’d like to give, and the beginning and end date. I figured out that if 26 people pledge to contribute $50 per month for 12 months or 52 people pledge to contribute $25 per month, I would have 100% of the funds necessary for my trip. My deadline for the first $3,500 is November 30, 2012. Would you consider becoming one of the 26 or 52 financial givers? Of course, any amount is appreciated and will go towards providing for my needs.

I have enclosed a response card and a pre-addressed envelope inviting you to be a part of my journey. If you’d like to commit to giving financially, please make checks payable to Adventures in Missions and return the response card with your donation to Adventures in Missions, P.O. Box 534470, Atlanta, GA 30353-4470. The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your donation. If you prefer to donate via the Internet, you may do so by visiting my blog site at: charlynvalencia.theworldrace.org. Just click the “Support Me” link in the upper left side of the page and complete your donation as instructed.

I am so excited to see how God will move in the lives of so many people during the coming year. I hope not only to be a blessing to those I serve, but also to you. Please prayerfully consider partnering with me to reach the world, including multitudes of people whom you may never meet on your own. I would be honored to go as your representative to bring Christ Jesus to the nations. I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support. May God bless you as you consider partnering with me in this ministry.
