THE WORLD RACE 2010 NEWSLETTER – NOVEMBER 2009
As
I compose this letter I am praying life is treating you well and that joy is
filling your days. I am writing to you in boldness and confidence to share the
desires God has impressed on my heart. As you know I am leaving for 11 months
to journey to 11 different countries with the program called The World Race. As
the time for departure is rapidly coming closer my heart could not be happier. Some days it hits me I am leaving in less than
five weeks, and feel a panic to be with my family and to express my love for
them. Other days I am just overwhelmed by the many things to get done, but most
days I soak in the amazing love of God and am so in love with him. Really my excitement
is hard to explain on paper but trust me, it’s hard to hide. As I write from my
heart I want to tell you, about my passion for life, it is pulled straight from
the bible and is declared in Philippians 1:21, “to me, living means, living for
Christ”. This statement alone I hold firm because I truly desire to exalt God
in all I do. I will go where the Lord tells me to go and say what he tells me
to say.
Now
that I have expressed a little part of my heart I want to tell you about the 60
racers who are on my team. I had the great privilege to meet them when we
attended a 10 day training camp in Atlanta Georgia. It was an amazing time
filled with a breaking of our hearts, a finding of passion, a time to let go of
our fears and proclaim boldness as we venture out into a world we have never encountered.
During the training we experienced food we may eat on our trip, living without electricity,
cold showers and 7 am workouts. I know this may sound very unusual but it was
awesome to get a taste of what we may be entering into and see God in the midst
of it all. Later in the week, we were divided into groups of 7. These groups
will be the ones we do ministry with and spend most of our day to day time
with. We have called our group “GLO”
meaning God’s Love Overflowing. We as a team believe when God overtakes your
life you glow, you reflect the awesome love of God and we want to impress this
upon each person we met.
I want to
invite you to be a part of this ministry, this calling of God upon my
life. Firstly I cannot do this without
prayer. I believe God works through
prayers, he hears our calls and he answers. It may not be the way we imagined
but he always comes through. I ask in boldness for your prayers, as prayer empowers
and strengthens in a way we may not always see but I believe it changes our
lives. Secondly if you have considered or thought about supporting me
financially, I ask you pray and be open to what God is asking. I truly need
your help to go on this trip, but know it is not just a trip but a life
changing venture, to bring glory to God, grow character and be filled with
obedience and boldness that is beyond what I know of myself. I am $9,500 from my goal and need help to get
there. I thank each person who has already given and pray a blessing upon each
person who reads this letter. My goal in for you to know my heart for what I am
doing, my passion for God and the people I will be serving. I want to glorify
God in all this.
