Cement walls, Cement floor
surround us as we sleep and live. Our room has no widow and one bed we store
our stuff on. Our washer machine does not work so we hand wash everything.
Every time I turn on a light I stand at distance and wait for the cockroaches
to disappear- I have never seen one till this trip and knew I would always
dislike them. We have 13-15 toads at our door each night, lizards crawling on
our walls, in our kitchen, bed rooms and everywhere. We drink so much water to
even out how much we are sweating- which means we only really pee once or twice
a day. We have T.V’s that do not work, and couch that our scary to sit on -you
never know what will crawl out of them. We drink military milk and peanut
butter and jelly sandwiches every lunch.
I tell you all this so you can have a picture of our experience and
journey. Upon entering we did not know what to think but each day God reveals
new blessing to us. We have a building with fans and somewhat working air
conditioning. We have a working fridge and stove, a long table to eat at, work
at, sleep at (the fan hits you nicely there) and sit together at. We have a
working toilet and shower (which is all one room, with no curtain which equals
lots of room to move when having a shower)

We are learning to grow as a
team, and serve one another.
In ways like;

Sending Liz to the bathroom to be
quarantined as we fight with wasps
Extending our hands to help Catherine onto the table as we see a lizard scurry
Someone walks across the room to turn all the lights on before I even enter (even
one foot) so all the cockroaches can flee
We give grace to Monica (aka Pearl) to have more than one shower a day – she is
a sweater!
Watching out for our budget, Michelle makes our one jar of Jam last a month with
her penny size portion of jam per sandwich.
David sacrifices his shower shoes as bug squishes and frog fleer!

“Be joyful always; pray continually, give thanks in all
circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians
5:16-18) God is Good!
