Quick note
before I get started- Just wanted to tell you the Intention for these Blogs
(just so you have an idea of what is to come with my blogs)
1) Share my heart – what God is teaching me, what I am learning, and what I am
inspired b
y.
2) Update- on country, ministry, new fun facts about country, weather,
community, and/or living.

Welcome to day 220, just kidding
it just feels like we have been on the road for more than a week. It has been a
great time, we have started our ministry. For a week we are helping out at a
church, getting dirty. I spent three days power washing two buildings to prepare
to paint, hammered old nails back to where they were supposed to be and just
loved it. We ate fresh fruit off the trees- plums, apples and oranges- so juicy
and delightful. It will be great investing our time into this local church,
they needed help and it is amazing to be there.
In a week we get to be involved in two conferences (like mentioned
before) and It is going to be the beginning of something great here in New
Zealand- Please be praying! Now I have very exciting news for my first time
ever, I got to drive on the left side of the road and sit in left side of the
car! And believe it or not it went GREAT. I love to try new things and I get to
add it to my mental list of things I have done. Also I got to walk through the
Lord of the Rings movie set, a few of us went (will post pictures soon), it was
beautiful and I even frolicked through the vibrant green fields (I will post
that video too).

I get the great privilege of
being in charge of the food for our team of 6. With a budget of $1 per person
per meal, yup that is it $3 a day, which works out to $18 a day for everyone.
They weren’t kidding about the food budget but it is an amazing opportunity to
give up our wants of food and live minimal. Bad thing about New Zealand it is
very expensive. So needless to say we are living off a lot of Peanut butter and
jelly sandwiches, Oatmeal, Potatoes and Carrots.  We call it the bugs’ bunny diet – whole unpeeled
juicy carrots! Yum yum!

I love my team; we have really
started to bond. We are learning the importance of laughter, loving, lifting
each other up and being a true community. It is going to be a good year with
this team, we all have such different personalities and gifts, but each with
something great to offer. We are blessed to have a married couple on our team
which I am so excited about. It teaches me more about healthy marriages, as they
surrender their lives to God, it helps me to see how to build up a good marriage
with a solid foundation in Christ.  I am
encouraged for what may eventually come, and to be that wife I was created to
be. I am so thankful for all those amazing marriage couples back home; I am
just blessed to have such great examples in my life.  I thank all those people for being open to
who you are and being a huge blessing to my life.

Now for random notes:

I was described by one of my teammates as Dori from Finding
Nemo- which I don’t mind; it’s the child in me!

Fun Fact: Bathing Suit is called a toga and Sandals are called Jandals in New
Zealand. Also chocolate sprinkles are called Chocolate Hail.
