The 10 days that I was so blessed to spend with this squad in Gainesville, Georgia are 10 days that I will never forget, nor take for granted. I had the time of my life with these people and I cannot wait to travel the world with them to care for, love, and serve the least of these. Here are are a few moments from training camp!

Home: These tents were our homes for Training Camp! We each were to bring a two person tent to sleep in to prepare for life on the field. Everything that we brought to camp and will bring on the Race will be stored in our tents when we are sleeping. I didn’t think I would like sleeping in a tent, but I actually really enjoyed it and used my tent as a quiet space to reflect and talk to the Lord before bed and in the morning to start the day.

Food: Each day, during camp, we were served a variety of different meals from different places around the world. Through this, we were able to learn how to eat the way they do and also learn how they communicate with others during meals. This day, specifically, was Asia Day. As you can see, chop sticks aren’t for me.. I gave it my best but I just couldn’t get the hang of it. So, I used them to somewhat scoop the food from the bowl into my mouth. I am definitely going to have to work on this hahahaha.

Cleaning Duty: After meals, different squads were assigned to clean up all the messes and do the dishes. As you can see, we washed everything in tubs and everyone was involved in some way! This actually was very humbling for me and put some things in perspective. We are so fortunate. Simply being able to wash dishes with SOAP and CLEAN water is such a blessing and is often overlooked..

Sessions: During Training Camp, we had hours of sessions everyday in one of the rooms on the campus. Through these sessions we received a TON of information about our route, past expedition routes, and about what to expect on the field. No session was the same. Each one presented new information to help us better prepare for launch in August!

Airport Night: Our squad and another squad were to spend the night in the “airport” as if there was a layover or our flight was delayed. It was so loud and hard to sleep. The room was filled with people but we found a way to make the best of it by playing a fun card game and getting to know one another.

Squad Wars: On the second to last day we competed against the other squads, launching in August, in several fun and wild games. We had a dance off, a dodgeball tournament, a leap frog relay, a David vs. Goliath game, and other activities to bring us all together and enjoy each others company. These pictures were after the leap frog relay. The rules were to leap over the back of your team and reach the front where you would have to dive face first into a bowl of flour and dig out a marshmallow with your mouth! After the game, we got a little crazy with the extra flour…

This was only a small, very small, glimpse of everything that happened at Training Camp. With the blogs to come I will go into more detail about specific things at Training Camp that the Lord revealed to me and what He is preparing our team to do out on the field. Thank you everyone who has supported me so far! I am getting closer and closer to being fully funded and even closer to launch! Please keep us all in your prayers as we are all back home now preparing to meet again and reach the unreached around the world.

Love you guys!!
