Here’s a quick video of our first 30 days on the Race! Be sure to pick higher quality under setting!
Here’s what happened the past month:
On April 1st I met my World Race squad – the April 10/40 Expedition, to begin our journey together for the next 11 months. After a 1-day tour around NYC, we departed for Barcelona to begin our training camp. The first 4 days we explored Barcelona’s famous land marks between classes on leadership and positive routines / programming. Most importantly, I began learning about the 22 other members of my squad: a former consultant for Bain, an ex-drug addict/banker, an ER nurse, coffee shop baristas, and many other backgrounds all colliding under one roof.
As the “honeymoon period” came to a close, we started our 5-day trek on the Camino del Santiago. We experienced all weather imaginable – sunshine and rainbows to hail and brisk winds. Over the 130-mile trek, we paired up and began sharing our stories, prayer-walked, and tried to hear the Creator’s voice during stints of solitude.
I cannot overstate the importance of this sharing process… among these complete strangers I found a safe place where I could share the most shame-filled parts of my past. And to my surprise, I found acceptance and more respect as a result. My teammates also began confiding in me. Vulnerability begat vulnerability. Together, “Our hurts became the home for our greatest hopes” (Richard Rohr paraphrased).
Physically tired yet spiritually refreshed, we went to Mijas, Spain, to finish training at the G42 Leadership Academy. We encountered a Andrew Shearman’s incredible lesson – “You Were Made to be Loved.” And, Seth Barnes (CEO of Adventures in Missions) made a personal visit to our squad. He taught us about becoming a discipline of Christ. To summarize Seth’s teaching:
Live out Matthew 10! but have grace with yourself. If Peter didn’t have it together after 3 years of following Jesus, I think we can all have a little grace in our pursuit of discipleship.
We ended training camp with some friends and a large homecooked meal, then departed to north Africa. It’s been one week since my team arrived and I have already seen miracles. After team was escorted to a hole-in-the-wall cafe by a local cafe-owner, we had an opportunity to bless him and pray for injury that was causing him to limp. After two rounds of prayer with Lukas Drummond and Luke Thompson, I watched the man walk perfectly straight. As he tested out his injury, He began walking up and down the restaurant WITH NO LIMP. With a huge smile, he walked to me, shook my hand, and gave me a big hug. “The glint in their eye and the smiles don’t lie!” This is happening.

This is only week 1 in Africa, and we’ve already seen other healings. Thank you for your support and prayers. Don’t stop. God is using this team in powerful ways. Hope you enjoyed the video and look for another updates in 2-3 weeks.
