I made the decision to go on The Race two weeks ago today. Six of those first days were spent in turmoil while the last eight have been peaceful and filled with anticipation, excitement and confidence in my decision. This reminds me that we live in constant tension. We have to. How else do we learn faith, dependence, perserverance, and humility? If everything in life was clear and layed out perfectly for us, why would we need a big God? While I am thankful to be on this side of the turmoil, I'm also thankful for the time of wrestling. It means that this matters. It means that God is teaching me even now in this "preparation ground" before The Race. It means that I am being chiseled, molded, pruned and refined…choose your metaphor! We all need to step into things in life that are bigger than us — God-sized things that cause us to grow. Sometimes those things create anxiety but but as I learned last week from the wise teaching of Dr. Henry Cloud – there is a such thing as "good anxiety"…it is that anxiety that means we are on the edge of something that is bigger than ourselves, and although a little scary, something that will take us to that next level of growth.

Where are you experiencing some "good anxiety" in your life right now?

What choice will you make?

Will you run the other direction towards what is safe and comfortable?…OR, will you take one more step forward and lean into the fear and unknown that just may result in the greatest growth and adventure of your life?
