I want to start off by saying Bulgaria is awesome. This month ministry is cooking, cleaning dishes, vacuuming, mopping, laundry and so much more! I am absolutely loving it because we just get to serve! We just had a group of women here for a little over a week for a women’s conference. We got to spend time with them and get to know them while they were here. It was amazing. I absolutely love it!

I have been sharing photo blogs so far, but I wanted to share with you a little piece of my heart and a short story of something that happened to me while I was here.

One day last week my team and I went with the ladies that were here on about a 2 mile walk through the hills. We walked through fields, high grass, and on paths. It was amazing. At one point we could see in the distance a shepherd with his sheep on the side of a hill. Sooo cool! I was wishing I was closer so I could get a better picture, but other than that, didn’t really think too much more about it. Fast forward a couple days and my friend and I went back to that same trail for some exercise. We turn this one corner and the shepherd and his sheep are seriously standing right in the path of where we need to go. I wasn’t sure how they would respond so we walk around them a little way but then a couple of the sheep saw us and started walking toward us. As soon as they took a step the shepherd immediately called out and they stopped where they were. They went back to eating and didn’t even pay attention to us anymore. The shepherd did all this while lying on the ground next to the sheep. It was so peaceful and one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

We got talking after we walked away about how quickly the sheep responded to the shepherds call, how close they were to the him, how in tune with his voice they were, how they trusted the shepherd to make that decision for them. We talked back and forth for a little while about this. But I just couldn’t stop thinking- am I putting myself in the position to hear God’s voice…the ultimate Good Shepherd? Am I in tune with His voice to where I’ll know its Him with no doubt? Am I willing to trust Him when I do hear His voice above all else? These are some questions that I felt God was revealing to me. I believe God is constantly talking and showing me things, but am I listening, looking or even expecting it?

These past 3 months have been absolutely amazing. I have learned so much about God- His goodness and grace. I have learned about others around me and myself! I still have a lot of growth that comes one day at a time, but it all started by just saying yes. Saying yes to spending time with the Good Shepherd, saying yes to making myself vulnerable, saying yes to His voice! And just to think all this just by seeing a shepherd and his sheep.

John 10:4 Jesus says “When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.”

Thanks so much for reading!
