I got to meet the sweetest lady last month who worked at the laundromat where we brought HUGE bags of laundry quite often. I made sure to walk by her workplace every day to say hi and chat a bit. I got to celebrate a successful shopping trip for her son’s graduation, talk about her husband’s driving job that took him to Germany occasionally, hear about her flower garden at home, learned her mother and siblings all live in different European countries and she rarely gets to visit them, how she’s only been working at this place for two months, and so many other things. She spoke English so well and was always so happy! She fed us some cookies while we chatted and sent us home with a bag of goodies for our trip to the next country.

Tuesday evening before we left Sombor, a few of us got to sit and drink coffee with her. It was such a blessing to hear parts of her story as well as share bits of ours.

I went by her shop one last time the morning we left and thanked her again for her friendship and the joy she brought to my life.

Mladenka, you made Serbia such a special place for me! Hvala!
