My team had been discussing how we could plan something special for the girls at New Hope. It’s easy for them to get overlooked here. They are greatly outnumbered by the boys, and they are fairly slow to open up. Since we were in Cambodia for Valentine’s Day we thought it would the perfect day for a girl’s day. They don’t really celebrate it here, at least not how we do, so we could do something a little different. We spent the day before hand making decorations, and cleaning up for the party. We had so much fun just preparing. The time for the party came, and as the girl’s showed up you could tell they were so excited. We had stations set up to do their hair, nails, and makeup. Juliana bought fabric to make a photo backdrop for them. We even had an arts and crafts section where they painted and made Valentine’s cards. It was such a fun night for everyone! The girls got so into their hair and makeup; all of them had so many pictures taken. It was so great to have something just for them, where they could be as girly, loud, and fun as they wanted!
