Here’s the truth: Nicaragua was uncomfortable, unpleasant and undeniably wonderful.  It was the first month we used our tents.  We camped out next to the baseball field at our ministry site on gravel and dirt.  The heat was in the forefront and couldn’t be ignored.  Since we were told April was the hottest month, it was going to be rough for us.  Before we even began doing ministry, I wanted to make sure my heart was in the right place and Paul’s words were in my head.  I wanted to learn that “in whatever situation I am to be content.”  Philippians 4:12.  Paul wrote these words to the church in Philippi from a Roman prison.  Talk about being miserable.  Having that imagery, my external circumstance didn’t seem that bad.  I mean there were things to complain about and I can list them all for you but I don’t want to.  I have had the sweetest days with the Lord in Nicaragua.  No matter how my day turned out, every day with Jesus was absolutely sweeter than the day before.  Sweet mornings.  Sweet people.  Sweet moments.

Here’s some sweet highlights from our ministry month!

This is the sunset view from our “campsite.”

Water Sampling.  Our first week, we got to serve with a water scientist and collected samples from the neighboring villages.  He was researching the causes for Chronic Kidney Disease for the men in the area.

Abide House.  Our ministry contact Lisa (right in front) is building a foster home for girls without families.  The girls and I had the privilege of writing scriptures all over the foundation of her home before they continue to build.  Afterwards, we prayed over each room and every corner.
