So training camp is over and this is I what I learned.
I learned a whole other meaning to “dying to oneself daily.” Luke 9:23. Everyday of camp posed a different challenge and by no one’s standards but my own, I believe I failed everyday. It was good that I failed because I learned. Every emotional, mental, spiritual and physical discomfort opened my eyes to the Lord (often times, after the fact). But He was with me and did not forsake, like He said He would.
One profound moment of weakness happened during our “boot camp” scenario. All the ladies in my squad were divided into groups and we were tasked to perform activities in a synchronized fashion. If the group was out of sync, then we had to start from the beginning. Our group had to perform 100 sit-ups and it took us about 10 or so tries before getting the rhythm going. I was the weakest link and I didn’t like the feeling. I wanted to push myself to keep up but I was prideful and unrealistic. After 50 sit-ups, we took another break and the girl next to me said, “..you’re doing a good job!” in which I broke down. I couldn’t accept what she said. I knew I wasn’t doing a good job but it was my best. God spoke through her to open my eyes. Lesson learned: no matter how much I performed, I couldn’t earn God’s love. As much as I wanted to prove that I wasn’t the weakest link, the more it proved that I was. I was so focused on the task that I missed the bigger picture.
Forgive me, Lord. Thank you for not giving up on me.
3rd generation MNOPQ squads (m/red; n/blue; o/green; p/orange; q/purple – can you spot me!?) – we all will be launching January 2015 to various countries.
3rd generation M squad – tiny but [m]ighty! So grateful for such a smaller squad, I know everyone’s names!
M Squad was divided into 4 smaller groups which will be the serving team for the 11 months. Meet “Unidos Pa’lante.”
Bottom row (left to right): Karissa and Kaitlyn; Middle row: Betsy and Katrina; Top row: Justin and Jarrad
Each team will have a team leader (World Race Alums), Greg’s one of them. Kelly is (one of) the sweetest girls on M squad.
