The month we spent in Laos got cut in half because my team got an amazing opportunity to go back to Nong Khai Thailand. When we were in Pattaya the month before I got to learn a lot about the culture and find out where the girls that work in the sex tourism industry come from. They come from Isan ( at least most of) which is an area of Northern Thailand, which Is where Nong Khai is located. I was so excited we get to experience the culture I have been hearing about, maybe even met some of the girls that are at risk of being sent to work in Pattaya. It made so much sense to me that it was our team that got this opportunity, we were in Pattaya the month before getting to met some of these girls and learning about there culture. When we got to Nong Khai after our couple weeks in Laos we found out that he did not have a schedule for us, he was also so busy with work that he did not have a lot of time for ministry. We ended up going to Nam som which is about 2 hours away from Nong Khai. We worked with a church there and helped them get ready for their Christmas program, where they handed out presents to local families. When we were with our contact we did a lot of hanging around the base where we stayed at and cooking. His wife is Thai and she is very harden from Life, they have a seven year old daughter who spent a lot of time with us. She did this because she wanted to do girly things and her mom does not do them. It was not until towards the end of our time there that I started to understand that part our ministry was our contact. I am not going to lie I was a little disappointed that I did not get to work with a ministry that goes and talks to girls at risk, but I was reminded not to have expectations for ministry. It also reminded that no matter what we are doing God can use that in amazing ways. It is easy to have expectations and disappointments in this life. It is a lot harder to truly give all control to God, to say yes no matter how hard and to give up your desires to follow Gods.
