When going into to Laos I did not expect a lot of chances to talk about God or even to see God moving a lot. Oh man was I wrong. I was reminded how true it is that God does not have borders. My team and I had a chance to teach a couple different schools. One was a preschool, at the preschool we got to pray with the kids, got to do bible stories and the director does a devotion for the teachers. All of this is because God has given the director incredible opportunities with this school. In Laos I was also reminded of how blessed I am just by living in America and things I don’t have to worry about. While in Laos my team stayed with an amazing family. The mother was sweet and took care of us so well. Her children were sweet, kind, smart and funny. Her 12 year old son I see a very bright future for. We were walking home one night and I asked him what he wants to be when he grows up, he responded a business man. I asked him what kind of Business man and he thought for a while and them he said actually I want to be a police man, but I can’t. So I asked him why and he said because Christians can’t be police men in Laos. I asked how they would know his response was they would ask and I would say “yes”. I was so proud, taken back, and thought how I have never had to worry about saying I was a Christian. I have never felt unsafe or like I would be made fun or anything else. I have heard of christians Being persecuted but I never thought about how much of the day to day life that it would affect for the people that are. This also gave me hope for Laos that there are people there who are willing to stand up for what they believe in and knowing that God is moving.
