This is Maria.
Maria is from Candelaria, in
Chichigalpa, Nicaragua.
Earlier this year she suffered from
a stroke which effected her ability
to move the entire right side of her
body.
This month in Nicaragua I have
spent 5 days a week with Maria.
We have been praying for healing
as well as spending 40-60
minutes in massage therapy.
Yes, massage therapy.
I know what youre thinking..
"What do you know about
massage therapy??".. this is
a completely legitimate question
My answer.. NOTHING.
Which is why I myself was in
complete wonder as to why the
Lord was calling me to minister to
the woman in that way..
But God is good ( and I have
found a new career!..kidding)
and through much prayer, He led
me through every step of every
excercise and by the end of the
month, Maria was able to (with
assistance) stretch her arm straight up in the air,
and bend her elbow to touch the back of her head!!
After months of carrying her arm as if it were in a sling, she was finally able stretch and use muscles she hadnt in so long. The Lord also healed her from all of the pain and swelling in her right leg and blessed her with full nights of rest! I literally whitnessed the swelling go down during one of our therapy sessions.. AMAZING!
But my month with Maria wasnt just about massage therapy or spending and hour a day with some random woman who I could barely communicate with through broken spanish.. it was about the Lord SHOWING UP and allowing me to be a whitness to His work. It was about Him beginning to break my heart for His people.
Maria is the best memory from Nicaragua and continues to have a peice of my heart. Tears of joy flood my eyes at the memory of our time together. and my deepest prayers are with her..
