Yes, this did happen…kind of.

Our main ministry this month has been with a Quiche speaking church in the mountains of Guatemala in Alta Verapaz. This morning I was translating the spanish from quiche to english. The pastor, Luis, was speaking on Adam and Eve, Ephesians 5, 2 Corinthians 7 (passages about marriage). In the midst of it, he says "today we are celebrating a marriage" and points to the elderly couple in front of us sitting down facing the congregation. I get the microphone and hesitantly say "…I think today these people are getting married…, or they are a representation". About 10 minutes later, Luis, pulls out a marriage contract that was signed two days prior.
This 70 year old man and 62 year old woman did get married March 15, 2013. On March 17, 2013 the pastor held the wedding. And without me knowing it, I was translating part of this wedding. It was a very interesting. Who knew that I would be a part of officiating a wedding this year?

All I can say is it was awesome!
