China blog #3
There is a game that my team leader, Emily, learned while ministering in India called the prophesy game. This month we did this game. It is simply praying and listening and writing down whatever God says for a specific person. Before the game everyone draws someone else’s name but does not look at the name until after God speaks something about the person.
The Lord has a few things to speak to me through a teammate. I was unsure as to what God meant by a few of them and even now continue to ask for understanding. There is a chance I will not understand until years down the road.
However, in the process of asking I caught myself having a slave mentality. I was receiving God’s word as if it was a charge to act or to change. It reminded me that God does not always speak to us for us to do something. Sometimes he speaks just to speak. He speaks to us because he loves us. And when he does speak to us to “change” or “act” it’s because he is encouraged by our potential and our ability and not as a harsh charge.
So I wanted to share that little lesson I was reminded of this month.
Do not only listen for the Lord when you are in need of direction or change, because he speaks beyond those parameters. Listen to him daily, because every day he wants to speak to you, because he loves you and cares for you. He is not a distant God, but is close to us. So keep your ears open.
