marriage. homosexual. beach. drag queen. fire.

These are all words about our ministry this month. I never thought I would pretend to be in a relationship with a teammate to make sure he does not get hit on by another man during minisyry, but it’s month 11 and about time!

This month we live about a mile from the beach. So we are a mile from a lot of tourism and a lot of crazy night life/bars. Here in Puerto Galera, Mindoro, there are some bars and some evening shows on the beach I never imagined. This includes a heavily populated homosexuals and “lady boys”/men who have become women or at least dress as such.

The past few evenings we have been attended the shows at the bar. They have some karaoke time and time where all the “women” have an act along with a fire show. The fire show is put on by three homosexual men. One afternoon I got one of them, BJ, to teach me, and really struggled. They have sung songs by the “lady boys” have been “Barbie Girl”, “It’s Raining Men” and “This Girls is on Fire”. I will not go into detail of what I have seen, but I can say my reaction is a broken heart. I regret admitting to only crying a few times over the course of the year over ministry. However, this week, I have cried multiple times for these men.

God is doing some awesome things with us and them. One of my squad leaders sang “How He Loves” the other evening on the stage at the bar! It was awesome! I could discern that the “host/one of the main men/”lady boys”” was really internalizing what was happening. There appeared to be a lot of confusion, but these men are coming into contact with the Truth of who God is and who God has made them to be.

Tonight, a teammate is taking a guitar and she is going to be playing worship songs at the bar of many homosexuals and “lady boys”

It is a joy getting to know these men. They are open to us and honest with us. And they need Jesus, we have come to bring him! So I ask for your prayers as we continue to get to know them and share the Lord with them. We need to go in covered in prayer because the Spiritual atmosphere is one of the strongest we have encountered on the race. But our God is so able and so powerful! Praise him!
