Halloween, what a great holiday filled with so many memories and fun. However dressing up for me is always hard. I was having difficulty coming up with a costume when my dear squadmate Rayna shared with me what she was going to be for Halloween. She informed me she was going to be a homeless person asking for money for the World Race. And I thought that was a great idea, so I stole it.

To be honest it did feel a bit strange at first, being a homeless person. It was strange because it is a real thing, but the more I thought about it the more I realized the reality of my next year. No, I will not be "homeless" in many ways, but I will be living a transient life. Every month I will be traveling from country to country with only a pack on my back unsure of where I will rest my head at night.
This reminds me of something Jesus says to His disciples. Luke chapter 9 states, "When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt. Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town."
He commands them to take nothing with them. I am not that bold and trusting-YET. However what Jesus gives them to take with them is what is important anyway and what gives life and rest and purpose. I too hope I and my team will remember to walk in this power and authority every moment of the day. Because that is what this next year is all about, it's not about what is on our back, on our feet, in our hand or in our belly, but being led by the Holy Spirit so people will know Jesus!
