Goodbye China, hello India?

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Isaiah 6:8

For the last couple of days, I have had something on my heart, and I have been asking the Lord for guidance.

As many of you know, I teach ESL (English as a Second Language) online to students in China, and I can tell you his experience has changed my life completely. These students were one of the main reasons I first chose to go on Route 1 of the World Race. They have shown me nothing but kindness and true love!!

The other day I was telling one of my students how excited I was to come to China and to experience their culture, but something felt wrong when it came from my lips. I felt that if time had stopped and the Lord was trying to tell me something. My heart began to hurt. As I finished the class, I couldn’t help but wonder what the Lord was trying to say.

“Did I say something wrong?” I thought.

Later, that evening, I went outside and opened my heart to the Lord. I asked, “Please show me what I need to see so that you may be glorified!” I silently sat there listening to God.

It was in the silence that I heard, “You are to go to India.”

“India?” I declared, but I wanted to go to China.  At first, I didn’t want to believe this because I had wanted to visit China ever since I was a little boy. I had a hard time wrapping my head around this message that the Lord had just given me. Like a child, I through a hissy fit.

My spirit was weak. But, the Lord quickly put me back in my place. So, I humbled myself and surrendered to His commands. See, the Lord knew that if I went to China, I wouldn’t need Him. He was aware that I would be equipped enough to make it on my own without Him.

Man, this guy knows my heart!

So, after a few days of prayer and worship, I am reminded that it’s not about me! It’s about being a Light in darkness! It’s about Christ! I know that God has a bigger plan for me, and I must walk with confidence and trust in Him.

I will now be on Route 1 going to Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda.

So, goodbye China.  And, hello India!
