To my beloved family and friends,
This year, and the last few really, have been a mystery to me. Most things in my life seem to be unknown. There is something about the unknown that is uncomfortable to me, especially when it has to do with important decisions. Through God’s word, I am reminded that all I have to do is trust Jesus and follow after Him and He will show me the way. This truth, however has been hard for me to accept and is something I have been wrestling with for years. “But Lord, I want to do this now or have that! They get to, why not me?” Sound familiar?
As you may know, I graduated from Sterling College in May 2012 and my plans were following the theme of the past six years…unknown. I have felt like the Israelites wandering through the desert, not knowing what to do next and how long it would take to get there. “Show me what you want me to do Lord,” I prayed. Well, through an unexpected chain of events (too long to explain in this letter, but I would love to tell you
personally sometime) the Lord answered that prayer in the form of “The World Race.”
Beginning in July 2013, I will be embarking on a journey to go to 11 countries in 11 months, all in Jesus’s name known as “The World Race.” Through adventure, ministry, community and self discovery, World Racers develop broken hearts that propel their hands to act for God’s kingdom around the globe. On the World Race, my future team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities. We will preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution due to sex trafficking, and bring the restoration and hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
How you can help
- Prayer: I can use all the prayer you can muster for myself and my future team. We often underestimate the power of prayer and by praying anything can happen.
- Financial Support: I want to invite you to be a part of my journey, not only through prayer, but through financial giving too. I know that money has been tight due to the bad economy. However, I ask that you pray about helping support me on this journey. Giving can be an act of worship. Just as big an act as the person you help send.
- Fundraising Goal: Think of how much it would cost you to live 11 months. Now, minus all your common costs such as rent, tv, car, gas, phone and internet to name a few. For a while on the World Race I will be living out of a 65 liter backpack, sleeping bag and tent. I know that may sound crazy to some, but all I can say in response is that I want to live my life fully devoted to Christ and being obedient to His will. In other words, I am okay with looking crazy for my Creator. I have prayed about and purposely chosen not to share the exact amount of support I need to avoid discouraging you, while simultaneously hoping to encourage you to give what God truly puts on your heart. I have complete faith that because God has called me to do this, He will call people like you to give generously.
Ways to Give
- Monthly: Pledge any amount of money for each month.
- Lump Sum: A one-time lump sum gift (of any amount) would also be a huge blessing.

Fundraising Timeline
- My goal is to be FULLY supported by July 2013, which is only about 6 short months away. Having all the money raised before I leave would ensure that I can focus on the tasks at hand and not have to worry about money while I am on the field spreading the “Good News.” In all honesty I am crazy scared about not meeting my goal, yet crazy excited because it’s in God’s hands and I know He’s gonna provide in unbelievable ways!
You are receiving this letter because you have had an impact on my life. Whether it being significant or small, profound or quiet, you have influenced me and have ultimately helped shape me into the person I am today. I look forward to hearing back from you! I hope not only to be a blessing to those I serve, but also to you. I would be honored to go as your representative to bring Christ Jesus to 11 nations around the world. I want to thank you in advance for your support in any way you can give it.
Blessings,
Chandler Keenan
