When faced with adversity it is the actions you take and the
attitude you have that make you stronger. The devil is trying to do everything
he can to make it harder for the people in town to get to church.

As we woke up for church on Sunday we were welcomed by a
surprise on the road. The man who owns the property of that portion of the road
built a bobbed wire fence blocking the access to the church. We all were really
frustrated and didn’t understand why anyone would do that considering the good
work that is being done in the community through this church. While all of us
sat complaining about the fence and trying to figure out what to do about it,
Pastor Al came up to us and said, “Don’t worry we will just build a new road
around it.” We all looked at him with giant question marks on our faces because
there is a mountain on one side of the road and houses on the other. How would
this be possible? After church Pastor Al showed us where the new road would
be:  straight up the mountain, go
to the right when we reached the top, then back down to the church. We all knew
it was the devil trying to stop the work that was being done for Christ in the
community so we told Pastor that we were going to work to finish this road so
people can continue to go to church.

Blocking the road will not stop God from the work he is
doing in this community. When a fence is placed between you and God find a way
around it. When I looked at the fence I saw a struggle or a “mountain” which
reminded me of a quote that helped me through times of adversity:

When I face a mountain I will not quit. I will try to climb
over it, find a way around it, tunnel underneath it, or perhaps stay right
where I am and turn it into a gold mine with God’s helping hand.

Do not let a mountain stop the work God has in each of our
lives. We are not going to let this fence stop God’s work in this community and
with these people.
