We have finally arrived in Africa and I am so excited to be
here. Since I was about 15 years old I felt God had called me to Africa. So
finally being here I feel like I am walking the path that He set out for me
such a long time ago.
Something that God had been teaching me is how much I focus
on things that are distractions in my life and I’m not focused on Him. I
distract myself with a lot of things that take time away from the time that God
wants me to spend with Him. He has been teaching me how much the devil likes to
place distractions in our lives to take us away from what God has for us.
Perfect example. We arrived in Bungoma, Kenya to work with
Bishop Emanuel and his ministry King Jesus Faith Ministries. All month we will
be going out doing door-to-door evangelism, going into the local hospitals to
encourage and pray for people, we will work with the street children that are
addicted to huffing glue, and we will be preaching in various churches around
that community. The first two days we were here I was pumped. I was ready to
go. You couldn’t get me out of the house fast enough to go talk with the people
in the community.
After only three days of being in Bungoma I got malaria.
DISTRACTION!! I felt so weak and sick to my stomach. Luckily I didn’t have a
very bad case but it still knocked me out of ministry for the rest of the week.
I was so pissed. I couldn’t understand why if this is where God called me to be
for so long I would get malaria. I believe that the devil gave me malaria but I
have faith that God healed me. He let this distraction happen because he knew I
needed to turn to Him to heal me. I needed to stop focusing on this distraction
in my life and focus on Him and His mighty healing powers. Sometimes it takes
getting malaria to realize where your focus is. Is it on the things of the
world or is it on God.
Praise the Lord I am healed and can return to the amazing
work we are doing here. Continue to pray for open hearts to the word of God
that we are bringing to the homes throughout Bungoma and that the Lord will
continue to do His mighty work through us all.
