So we have come to the end of month 5. Wow! Time has gone by
so quickly. God has done some amazing things through us and through our
ministry this month. We were in Bungoma, Kenya, working with Bishop Emanuel.
All month our main ministry was doing door-to-door evangelism, going to the
hospitals to pray healing over people, and going to schools to encourage
students with questions they had about the hardships of high school.
God did some amazing things. He opened up conversations with
the girls at the schools, he used us to be a vehicle for His healing power, and
spoke through us in the messages that were spoken at churches.
While we were there, our contact wanted us to see as much as
we could see of Kenya. For fun days we went to waterfalls and also to Lake
Victoria to see hippopotamuses. This time gave us a break from what can
sometimes be the exhausting work of the Lord.
We went to the waterfalls on a Monday and hiked around them
for the entire day. While we were there, I crossed part of the waterfall that I
didn’t realize would be so difficult to climb, then turn and go back to the
other side. So I was stuck on the wrong side of the river with a flowing
waterfall separating me from my team.
As I made my way to the place where I thought would be the
easiest to cross, an old man appeared out of nowhere. He motioned for me to
follow him. I was hesitant at first but then realized that he wanted to help
me. So I began to take his direction. At every place I came to, he pointed to
where I needed to put my foot or place my hand. When I was crossing the flowing
water he showed me where to place my foot. He knew where each rock was, even
ones that were under the water. He took my hand and led me across the waterfall
back to where my team was waiting for me.
After getting back to the house and thinking about how funny
this was to me, that this random old men helped me get across this waterfall
with so much ease, I realized how much this is like God in my life. God has
taken my hand and walked me through so many rough waters in my life. He has
placed me feet where they needed to be placed and led me to a safe place. He
knew the exact path that I needed to follow and held my hand, placed my foot,
and led me in the direction that was best for me. It was an awesome reminder
that God is always present. He is always there to hold our hand through the
hard waters that we encounter in our lives. Amen!
sorry for no picture: ill try to post one later!
