I began life’s journey in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. From here
moved to Tampa, FL, Charlotte, NC, Avon, CT, Cincinnati, OH, Oxford, OH (for
college), Dublin, OH, back to Cincinnati, moving to Washington, DC just over 3
years ago. I have been blessed with wonderful, loving, and generous parents who
have been there for me since day one. I have an awesome little sister, Ann, and
although she’s a couple years younger in age, she is much more mature than I,
haha. She lives in Austin, TX with her
husband Greg, who is more than any older brother could ask for in a
brother-in-law.
I still call Cincinnati “home” although all my family has
since moved away and I only visit a couple times a year. It was here I started
my young adult life. I went to Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, a biblically
based high school. Like many to pass
through those halls, I didn’t appreciate it at the time, but it produced great
relationships, improved my knowledge of Christ, and developed in me a love for
Christ and a thirst to have a deeper relationship with Him. I still talk with
many of my friends that I met there, although hundreds of miles away.
I attended college at Miami University in Oxford, OH. My
major was Finance with an International Business Minor. I put in just enough
work to get over a 3.0 GPA, spending more time having fun and partying than
studying. In hindsight I wish I would have taken full advantage of my classes,
but I guess that’s what getting older does to you. Summer 2007 I studied in Costa
Rica and Mexico for six weeks, which was an awesome experience.
A year ago I spent a week in Santo Domingo, DR through a
church mission trip. Although I’ve seen and volunteered in poverty stricken
areas in the US and abroad, this was the first time since being in the “real
world”. This experience further changed my outlook on life, God’s love, and the
direction I thought God was directing my future.
I like playing and watching sports, going to the gym,
running, personal finance, traveling, hanging out with friends, and taking a
year to serve in 11 different countries (last part is supposed to be funny).
I am really excited about this trip. I’m not excited about
quitting a comfortable job, great pay and benefits. I hope I’ll look back and
see that stepping into the unknown to serve God was the best decision I ever
made. That my life will be drastically changed, my love and relationship with
Christ strengthened, my impact on others great, and that I may daily bring a
smile on the face of the Lord.
