“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1:6-8
So many times in a Christian walk we are faced with making decisions. What direction in life should we go, where should we live, what job should we take and the list goes on and on.
At the beach the other day, the Lord showed me an illustration of a surfer riding on a wave. The Lord said to me through this illustration that the surfer has just a split second to make up his mind if he is going to take the wave or not. When he paddles for the wave it roars up and peaks when the surfer can either choose to get up and ride his board or choose to bail out. But, if the surfer chooses at first to go for the wave but at the last minute changes his mind, he goes hurling over the falls of the wave. If the Surfer chooses to ride the wave and get up on the board, the surfer has the ride of his life and enjoys the clarity and freedom of going for it.

I believe this is a perfect example that we all face in our day to day choices. I know that I have been faced with double-mindedness many times in my life when I think I want something and then I don’t at the last minute. Then all of a sudden, confusion sets in because I don’t really know what I want.
The Lord states in his word that He does not want us to doubt but to walk in confidence. We must look back at the life of Christ and see what He did. He came before the Father very early and late in the day submitting Himself to the will of the Father. He downloaded through the Holy Spirit everything that the Father wanted and then He walked out in power and authority doing the will of the Father.
We must submit ourselves to the Father, lying to rest the doubt and fears of the unknown, and walk out with power and authority proclaiming what our Father wants.
