In India I had the opportunity to see what many christians have desired to see in their lifetimes. Being able to see a large scale movement of God as he used me and my team to heal hundreds over a two week period. It seems as if many people desire to have the gift of healing praying for others and seeing them healed. In the past I felt like if I saw a healing that I had prayed for I would feel like I was close to God and that I had made it to the elite christian circle because I am doing all the right things. Not saying that desiring to see healing is a bad thing, I just know that I had to check my motives. I wanted to desire the healing not the healer and desire a story before I desired the one who is glory.  Even after I saw healings, at times I would tell the story of the healing to make myself look better.

After praying for many days and seeing hundreds healed, the mood shifted in our small team. We sat down and said “so what” that God is healing hundreds. We realized that healing was amazing  and that Jesus was making his name known in Kolkata. We also realized that after they got the healing they were only physically better. If they were to die the next day, they would still be going to hell. After that our prayers shifted from a prayer of physical healings to prayers of spiritual healings. We began to pray for them to know Christ more for his Spirit to wash over them.

It was cool to see that after that revelation many people were not healed and we had to meet with them many times to pray for them. This gave us the opportunity to show God’s love to them as we did not give up on them. As well as share more of the good news with them.

So to see healing that is not the ultimate Jesus is here moment. Healing is just the beginning, it is there to get the person’s attention that God is real and that he has power and love to heal his children. It is a sign that points to that father and if we just sit under the sign we still won’t get to our destination. Just as in John 12:37 it says “But despite all the miraculous signs Jesus had done, most of the people still did not believe in Him.

Healing is just the beginning, discipleship is where God really shows up. In discipleship God’s love and grace can touch the past, present, future, soul, mind, and emotions of a person and not just a knee or hurt back. I have realized now that I would rather disciple a few people in a couple of weeks. Than see hundreds healed as I go out to pray everyday. So continue to pray for healing and if you desire a healing let me ask you this one question. Have you prayed for healing today? How will you see it if you do not go and seek it? But healing is just the beginning it should lead to discipleship as you can explain the God who is the authority and love behind those healings.
