So I am writing this to inform everyone that my route order has been changed. My 1st stop is no longer Australia, it is now Malaysia!!!!
How exciting is that?!?!
(real question)….
…because at 1st I'm not going to lie, was kinda disappointed.
I mean, Australia seems like a good transition from America, & more my "ideal" 1st stop.
But since when has this been about what I find "ideal".
If there's anything I've learned about the race so far from blogs, training, and word on the street, it's that nothing is "ideal" on the race.
lose control. get rid of it. as in quit it.
lose expectations. as in quit them.
lose selfishness. as in drop it, it's ugly
So, I did.
I know God knows best.
As I was learning about where we will be staying I realized…..God is preparing me for everything on the World Race on the 1st month haha!
Go big or go home right?!
So here's the scoop:
We will be in Kedah, Malaysia working with a ministry there called "Sanctuary of Praise".
Some of the things we will possibly be doing will include:
leading worship, worship sermons, teaching sermons, teaching English, evangelism, social work, etc.
My favorite part of church & my relationship with Jesus is worship!
That's where I feel the closest to God, soaking in His presence, & can freely give my all to Him.
I will sing, dance, & be as crazy weird as I want,
because it's not for anyone else, it's for my Papa!
but mainly, I just feel His love for me so intense, like a reservoir, unending.
Malaysia is mostly Islamic culture. Therefore, women will have to cover our shoulders and thighs, dressing modestly.
Of course, as "foreigners" we are targeted for theft anywhere, so are warned to be alert and aware of surroundings
(which is a given I thought, it's everywhere!)
no worries ma, my head's on the swivel!
It is also considered dirty to shake hands or handle $ with your left hand in Malaysia, therefore…….right hand is the right way ๐
I THINK you can imagine why the left hand is considered dirty.
So there you have it, I can't share all the details because
frankly, they will probably still change haha! I launch in 6 days to Chicago
& will be leaving there around the 10th or so.
Happy Birthday to me on the 11th, I get to spend it in the air….or Malaysia ๐
*confessions of a dork-us-mosis: when I first heard we would be in Malaysia for our launch, I started singing, "Malay-kay-liki-maka!" ๐
…….no it's not Christmas, no it's not Hawaii, and no…..we aren't on National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation with the Griswalds.
BUT it's fitting, you've got to admit it.
more later, Celeste
