We only have two days left here in Tanzania and then we head off to Malawi for a debrief and then a month of ministry. This month has been great and I have heard a lot of crazy stories between our squad with people being healed and demons being cast out…and of course we have dealt with those same things (in smaller portions) but I am so excited to just be able to write to you all and brag about the power that we carry in the name of Jesus.
I always knew we had authority in Jesus but I didn't really grasp that until this month. We have done door to door ministry mainly here in Tanzania so we have met a lot of people and come across different things. One thing I didn't expect was to meet a witch doctor.
I have always loved hearing crazy stories about witch doctors and I knew they were in Africa but I didn't imagine I would meet one walking down the road…well we didn't exactly meet her, because she didn't stay around very long.
It was our normal day of walking around and talking/praying with people and we came upon this old lady who was sitting on the ground. When we came up to her she got up quickly and starting walking away from us. We tried talking to her and seeing if we could pray for her but all we got out of her was her asking us for money then she said she wasn't ready to talk to us and left. We couldn't stop her from walking away as fast as she did and we were confused but we just went about the rest of our day. Later that day we met up with another believer who was Tanzanian and when we told him about this lady he told us that the reason she walked away so fast was because she practiced witch craft with snakes and it all clicked to me. This woman ran away because of the presence that came with us. The presence that lives inside of us, she didn't know who we were or what we were about before she took off but she knew what authority we came in. That authority was enough to send her off, not wanting to stick around. People here have ran from us, not wanted to talk to us and I know why now. They fear not us but the presence of the Lord. We carry a great name and with that name comes great authority….it's always a good reminder and so encouraging. I walk around with my head held high because of who's name I come in. It's such a good feeling knowing that I am covered in the blood of Jesus Christ and it is He who carries me daily!
