We are called to love people no matter what

Honestly Jesus’ way of thinking, and teaching messes with my flesh.

  • Whoever strikes you on the cheek, turn the other cheek
  • Whoever takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either
  • Give to everyone who begs from you
  • From the one who takes away your goods do not demand them back
  • As you wish others would do to you, do so to them
  • Love your enemies and do good
  • Lend, expecting nothing in return

I’ve been on the race for 7 months now. I’ve seen a lot of things that honestly, I wish I would have never seen. I’ve had to live in close community with people that, back in the States, I never would have even considered a friendship with…but in all this God has been chiseling the pride out of me and teaching me about sacrificial love.

The type of love that H U R T S and D O E S  N O T  make sense to our flesh.

In order to have this type of love you literally have to sacrifice yourself. You have to die to yourself. You have to put that other individual before your own desires, wants and needs. Even if that individual has hurt you. Look at Jesus.

Tonight my heart is heavy. Tonight I have to choose sacrificial love. Tonight I have to choose forgiveness even though that individual did not apologize. Tonight I have to choose to love that individual no matter what. Tonight I have to choose to intercede on this individual’s behalf. Tonight I choose to put this individual’s needs and wants before my own. Tonight I have a heavy heart, but it is well with my soul.
