Someone on my squad suggested that we post 50 things about ourselves to try and get to know one another better. So, here it is!

50 For My Squad:

1) When I was younger, I was determined to be a writer when I grew up.
2) I still absolutely love writing.  There’s something about the raw honesty of words written down on paper – or pixels on a screen, I suppose – that does it for me.
3) I decided to go to law school instead.  I’m actually thrilled about that decision.
4) I’m hoping to pursue international human rights law, and I actually deferred my first year of law school at the University of Minnesota to go on the Race. (:
5) It takes a little bit for me to warm up to people, but once that’s done, I’m crazy, random, and a little weird.  Okay, who am I kidding – I’m really weird.
6) I started playing the violin in 3rd grade because it’s my dad’s favorite instrument.  I played until 12th grade, and now it’s safely stored underneath my bed.  Every once in a while, I re-tune it and then put it back away.
7) I’ve always wanted to learn how to play guitar and piano.
8) I love getting people gifts and then wrapping/packaging them really intricately.
9) I really like buffalo wings. Boneless, please.
10) I LOVE spicy food, and feel the need to put hot sauce on almost everything.  My being Indian may have played a small role in that.
11) I’m not very athletic, though I do sometimes like running, just for myself.
12) At 4’11 ½ ” (yes, that half inch makes a difference!), I would say I’m short.
13) Tall people fascinate and intimidate me all at once.  If you’re tall, I apologize (in advance) for asking you how tall you are within the first minute of meeting you.
14) I love to read, but wish I had more time to read.
15) I’m not at all a picky eater. I love trying new things and will eat practically anything.
16) If you gave me a watermelon, I could probably eat the whole thing in one sitting.
17) Actually, I really love fruits in general.
18) I learned to speak Malayalam (a language spoken predominately in the Indian state of Kerala) before I learned to speak English.
19) I studied French in middle school and high school, and Arabic in college.  I love learning new languages, but wish I could practice them more often.
20) I am a ridiculous procrastinator. =/
21) COCONUT IS AMAZING.
22) I bought my MacBook in December and have no desire to purchase a PC ever again.
23) I always have music playing in the background – in my head too.
24) I very much like laughing, and I laugh a lot.
25) I like singing.
26) I am allergic to all nuts, except for almonds.  This sucks even more because I only developed the allergy a few years ago, and I can still remember how awesome peanut butter tastes.
27) Coffee, YAY.
28) Sometimes, when I fall in love with a song/tune, I will put it on repeat for days at a time.  This is bound to happen at some point in the 11 months of the Race.  Sorry, squad & teammates. ):
29) I like falling asleep to the sound of rain.  Truthfully, I just like the sound of rain.
30) I love immersing myself in different cultures!
31) I’m a sucker for a good quote.
32) I hate when people squeeze toothpaste tubes from the center instead of flattening up from the end.  It’s one of those weird pet peeves, I know.
33) I seriously, seriously love to bake.  I bake when I’m bored, when I’m stressed, when I’m feeling creative – pretty much anytime.  To stop myself from eating everything that I make, I sometimes add nuts (see #26).
34) I’m definitely more of a morning person.
35) I always wished I had some sort of cool accent, and not just the one that slips out on occasion when I order “cawffee.”
36) My favorite color is yellow.  Blue and green are tied for second.
37) Whoever developed leave-in conditioner gets two very appreciative thumbs-ups from me.
38) I have hitchhiker’s thumbs.
39) I absolutely love rollercoasters. LOVE THEM.
40) Clowns freak me out.
41) Swing sets in the park are therapeutic.
42) Whistles make me feel powerful.
43) I become excited and happy very easily – sometimes over the simplest things.
44) There is something about Africa that just tugs at my heart a little harder.
45) I don’t know how to swim, but would really like to learn.
46) I worked as a telemarketer for a little while in high school; the sound of ringing while I wait for someone to pick up still irks me a little.
47) I can't really function without breakfast.  Most important meal of the day, right?
48) I’m the youngest in my family, and a proud aunt to my 4-year old nephew and 3-year old niece.  I’m going to miss those little boogers!
49) I sometimes catch myself people-watching and making up life stories to go with the faces of those I’ve never met.
50) I am so excited to serve God with some amazing people! (:
