From the moment my feet hit what we call “the farm” (the compound of the ministry that we are staying) I knew this place was home. A feeling of absolute peace and comfort washed over me. Feeling like I could finally breath after 6 months of complete abandonment and chaos.
Something about the way people live here fascinates me. Everyone i see has a smile one their face who has some crazy story that they are so eager to share. It’s not only the culture and people that draw me in and make me want to have more. but also the Spanish! Ugh wow all through high school I never liked it so I never learned it. And now, here I am desperate and eager to learn so that I can talk freely to everyone I meet. Trust me I know its a process and Im slowly but surly learning a new word each day so I’m getting there.
Let me tell you about Jen and Scott. They are the wonderful people that moved out of their comfort in the States to listen to the lord and move and start up a ministry in Nicaragua. They have 4 kids who are all now grown and out of the house. Jen and Scotts mission is to simply love on the people in the community by building relationships with the locals and inviting them into their space. Everyday people come onto the compound to hangout and play sports, along with doing bible studies. They also try and higher as many people as they can to help take care of the farm to give jobs to the locals. Its seriously the most amazing thing to see Scott and Jen do what I have such a love and passion to do. and wow I could go on forever about the crazy amazing friendships that the Lord has seriously blessed me insanely with. It seems as though I’ve known them forever. I have a crazy urge to want to know everyone more and hear their stories so that I can try and love them how Jesus extravagantly loved.
