Why the World Race?
Two years ago I arrived in Livingston Texas nervous and excited to spend my summer as a camp counselor in the beautiful outdoors of the east Texas pines. Little did I know that my time spent at Camp Cho-Yeh would forever change my life. In the past 3 summers I have spent at CY I have had the amazing opportunity to witness the body of Christ and it’s work first hand. I have seen what it looks like when people come together united with the purpose of furthering the Lord’s Kingdom. From campers, to staff, to parents, the Lord blessed me with the opportunity to serve. But more than anything else the Lord has revealed to me a passion and desire for his people. To walk along beside them in their struggles, to speak words of Life and Hope into their lives, and to share with them the Living God! In the past months the Lord has guided my heart and shown me his plans for my life and His ministry. He pointed me to His words in Matthew 28:18-20
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
For me this is not an option or a request but a command. Go.
Steven Furtich says it best in his book Sun Stand Still, “When God speaks, he does not stutter. When he awakens you to your calling, the snooze button stops working.” Well friends my alarm clock is ringing and the Lord is calling. The Lord has set the World Race in front of me as an opportunity to be an extension of His kingdom. To go and serve His children and to share with them the good news and the hope of Jesus Christ. Many of these countries are places the Lord has already laid on my heart and the joy it brings me to know that I will soon be there as a servant of the Lords is a joy I cannot express. I am ready to see the work of the Lord in my life and in the lives of others in the coming year. I hope that the Lord would use me to not only bless them but to be a blessing to you. I would be honored to go as your representative to bring the word of the Lord and Christ Jesus to nations around the world.
