I was having a lot of trouble writing a blog because I didn’t have much to write about. Nothing really big has happened yet, but then I realized that I’m literally halfway around the world 2 weeks in to a 9 month trip away from home and yet I feel right at home. I’m living in community, learning how to be the church with many new brothers and sisters, and I’m as happy as I could be! My team (which is amazing by the way and y’all REALLY should go check out and subscribe to their blogs also to keep up to date, which you can find their’s in the left hand column) and I have had the honor to be able to do different ministries in this culture because of the gender roles here in Swaziland. We have played with kids from the care points and our ministry hosts kids, who is a awesome family may I add. We have evangelized in the streets of a town called Matata, helped build a basketball court for the community, painted a building for a school on the Aim Base, and we have had a amazing time working at the prison here in Nosoko, preaching to the prisoners along side a full time missionary and his wife from Holland. I can’t believe the way these man who are in prison have broken the chains of this world, and given their life to God and worship his name with some of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard. Its truly inspiring to know that no matter how hard life gets on the race, and how much the forces of the enemy try to attack me I can always think of the way these men who are in chains have broken their chains of sin, their chains of deceit, their chains of being told they aren’t worthy, and they opened the word of God and found worth in him and through him and want to honor and praise him and crave a relationship with the maker of the universe. Some of them when they get released want to go and be missionaries to the world and make the name of Jesus known. It really puts life in perspective and reminds me of Romans 12:1-2 how the Lord has renewed their minds and shown them mercy and are following Christ as a living sacrifice as their true form worship when all they have is their lives.
Romans 12:1-2
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good, and acceptable and perfect.”
