Hey friends!
I’m 18 and currently a senior at Lindale High School! Graduation is in less than a month and as you can see from this blog, my next step isn’t going to be college, but 9 months of missions on the World Race Gap Year! Here’s a little about me for my Squad mates and those who don’t know me well 🙂
I’m wholeheartedly in love with Jesus and enjoy worshipping Him through dance, art, guitar, piano, and singing praises! Every way there is to worship Jesus I thoroughly enjoy participating in, constantly and enthusiastically! Creation excites me!! The sunsets, clouds, wildflowers, and wind all remind me of His love and the glory He deserves. I’m in a consistent state of wonder at His goodness and in awe of His perfect nature, His joy is my strength and it overflows in my life! I’ve been out of the country twice, to Costa Rica and Panama, on seperate missions trips and have realized that God created me to walk in His image, and as I’ve surrendered my heart to Him, He’s awakened a passion in me to go everywhere and love everyone so much I can’t withhold the truth of His amazing love! He inspired in me just living a “normal” Christian lifestyle that consists of intimacy with Him daily, complete freedom from sin, and moving in the power and authority He gives us as believers. With purity, integrity, and righteousness I live to walk as He did. Overall, I’m a happy camper, super willing, and easy to please, and I can’t wait to begin this new season of life!
What is the World Race Gap Year?
I’ll be traveling with a team some odd 50 people from around the US to 4 different countries over the course of a 9 month school year, serving God and His people as well as spreading the love of Jesus! We’ll leave in the beginning of September to go to Cambodia for 3 months, then Ethiopia for 3 months, Nicaragua for 2 months, and Costa Rica for only 1 month before returning at the beginning of June 2019. I’ll be living out of a backpack for the whole 9 months and sleeping in a tent while travelling and working with different ministries throughout the race. I’M SUPER PUMPED!!!!!
Why the World Race?
God has lead me to do the World Race for many reasons
first: To establish my dependency on God alone as I’m away from all family and friends for 3/4 of a year, living “independently” as an adult for the first time in my life, dealing with my own money and food daily, walking alongside God, my most necessary companion. I can’t wait to make Jesus my sole source of comfort and best friend while away from friends and family. I want/need to rely on His strength alone, His joy alone, and His comfort alone.
second: God spoke to me about this trip being a time of learning further how to use my gifts to glorify God in the everyday, and a time for Him to reveal other skills, passions, and what type of ministry that I have a heart for, and would be excited to be involved in. Learning some of what is in store for my future is a big part of why going on the World Race is going to be super beneficial.
third: I would like to develop the art of being a servant. I want to become purely like Christ and live selflessly everyday! I desire to become confident in Him and sharing my faith with every single person I meet! Everyone needs to hear about the love of Jesus and all He’s done for them! God’s will for us is to be healed, saved, whole, and protected in Him, and it’s our obligation to go and share the good news!
