We are in Los Chiles Costa Rica this month at a placed called Fundacion Resplandecer which is a place that Tony and his wife Rosa have been working on to be able to work with at risk teens and children. They are still in the process of building and adding things to the land, but in the time that we have been here, they had one of their FIRST camps for kids!!! There were about 38 kids that came to the camp and were elementary school ages. The theme was Camp Metamorphosis and they talked about the butterfly and its stages and how we can relate that to our lives. It was really fun to be able to work with the kids on the different things that they were given to complete and to see how they had to work together to figure them out. We took the kids through a low ropes course, which gave them different puzzle type things that they had to complete as a team. it was a good way for them to learn how to think outside of the box and work together without the adults telling them how to complete it. The camp was really fun and it was good to be able to be with kids and laugh and have fun.
The rest of this month we have plans to go to some other schools and churches and things where Tony and Rosita have connections and we hope to have another camp towards the end of the month with older kids. We will also be weeding the fields that they have which is produce that they will sell to make money to go towards their foundation. If you want to see pictures, check out my facebook page! 🙂
