Lemme tell you about a guy named German. He is a loving man that lives here in Guatemala. He is a strong man of faith. He is a loving husband and father of 7 and he has a heart for the widows and orphans. German works full time for GO ministries, but what does that mean? $30,000.00 a year with benefits? Nope. He works on a budget of receiving the little that God provides and living on that. He says that he has learned to trust because God hasn’t failed him yet. God many times provides with food and clothes, but they are never left lacking. Go ministries has been working in Xenacoj, Guatemala for about the last 3 years and their ministry is working with widows and orphans. He knows the town and where the 180 widows lives and goes door to door visiting them, praying for them, taking them glasses and combs and vitamins, and just being available for them. He also has a feeding program on Saturday mornings and there are many other towns that they have started reaching out to besides only Xenacoj.
With all of the things that he is doing you would think that he’s been a Christian his whole life. You might think that he put aside a normal job for pursuing God but it’s even more than that. German had gone to the US to work and send money back to his family but was accused and in prison for several years. German said that in prison he got into many fights and could care less for people. He only fought for himself and worried about himself, hating so many people, especially those that were falsely accusing him and had put him there. Prison was not easy, but it was there that German met Jesus. It wasn’t a complete 180 change in that moment, but He read gods word and slowly learned what god had for German to do. Slowly God started changing Germans hatred into love for his brothers. Eventually German was sent back to Guatemala and I can only imagine how he must have felt. Excited, scared, uncertain. There was no job waiting for him here….that he knew of. But god had plans for German. Go ministries had some difficulties getting it’s start and as German met Dave (director of go ministries) they began to work together and now Dave works stateside finding support and funding and German heads up all of the work here in Guatemala.
He has so much love and passion for the people here! The older people that live around here speak another language, kachi’quel, which German is fluent in. He is able to help them and be a testimony for Jesus to them in their heart language!
I have worked with so many men in prison, and I have wondered about sooooo many of them when they get out. So many get sent back to their countries….but what do they do? They come to church in prison, but will they hear Gods calling when they get out? German did. That gives me sooo much hope! Gods grace is sooo big! It doesn’t matter where you have been, it matters what you are doing with your life NOW!

Everyone is called but few answer.
