Even though we were in Malaysia this month, I feel like most
of our ministry was centered on the Burmese people. We taught in a Burmese school, taught English
to young adults, led Bible studies, and attended their church services. One of our last nights of ministry, the
assistant pastor that we worked with offered to have us over for a traditional
Burmese dinner. He said, “I don’t care
if you like it or not, you just have to try it. So we showed up and had some worship, then
they brought out the food. Man there was
pot after pot of deliciousness. I will
tell you that it was wonderful and we all loved it! We felt like royalty to have these people who
don’t have much money bless us with this abundance of delicious food. After we ate we played a game then we got to
pray and bless Haupi, his ministry, and his apartment. It was a wonderful time of fun and
fellowship. It was bittersweet to leave
because we all felt such a connection to Haupi and the Burmese people. But as Haupi reminded us before we left, we
have to go because someone has to go and share the Gospel. We can’t stay in the same place; we have to
divide and conquer.
