A few things I’ve learned in Cyprus…

  •  Don’t stir the yogurt. Yes, it’s separated, don’t stir it.
  • Turkish coffee, don’t drink the last few sips (they don’t filter it, so it’s all very fine grounds).
  • Turkish Delight! Unique each time you eat it.
  • Politely refuse the first time you are offered something; then graciously accept if they insist.
  • Look left when crossing the street.
  • Figs are delicious.
  • …Olives (off the tree) are not.
  • A single girl with her thumb out is the quickest way to catch a ride. Then, when the car stops all others come out of hiding. (Hitch hiking is a norm in Northern Cyprus and viewed as very safe. We also take extra precautions, including using discernment with drivers and going in groups.)
  • It’s only about a 10-minute walk to the grocery store when you take the direct route, rather than the 25-minute route we were originally taking.

I’m fully financially funded, but if you would like to partner in prayer I would love that.

Much Love, Catherine
