Picking up the kids for class!
Playing pato pato ganso!
The view of Calderas from the home of my ministry hosts, Elsa and Angel.
Village prayer rally in the fútbol field
Beach Day!! We took a road trip to the black sand beach and had such a fun and relaxing day. Oh how I missed the ocean! We went swimming, played games in the shaded huts, talked about life, and enjoyed walks on the sand (with shoes of course so our feet didn’t burn!)
Earth Lodge! We had breakfast up the mountain at a nature retreat with the view of the city Antigua. We watched the volcano Fuego erupting while laying in hammocks enjoying nature!
The last meal with my Guatemalan Madre and Padre. Elsa cooked our parents a meal and we sat together at one big table in the courtyard. Elsa and Angel loved me like a daughter the three months I was in Guatemala, and my dad really enjoyed talking to them (with the little Spanish he learned in a few days haha) He also finally got to try the traditional Guatemalan tortillas that I rave about!
My friend Oracio and his family invited our parents over to cook them a traditional Guatemalan dish: Pepián. They talked about how excited they were to meet our parents for months! They were so gracious to my team and exude so much joy. Oracio welcomes even strangers into his home as treasured friends. I’m real thankful to know this family.
My Dad learned how to make tortillas! It’s a lottttt harder than it looks. I gotta say, making a good looking and tasting tortilla is a talent.
My team, our parents, and our friends from Calderas!
Goats, goats, and more goats!
Thanks for visiting me in Guatemala Dad. Watching you step out of your comfort zone and embrace this experience wholeheartedly made me a real proud daughter.
XOXO, Cat
