1. When they ask if you want to shower now or later, and it turns out later only means 15 minutes later
2. When you can’t even count on one hand the amount of needles that have gone into your arms/hands since coming here
3. When the food is the best part, even though you can never finish it all so you have to make tough choices (usually what’s best for raising platelet levels)
4. When your room has a window that lets in a nice breeze and has a great view of the trees outside
5. When you have to have a nurse unplug you every time you need to go to the bathroom, and you’ve gotta go in a pink bowl
6. When the IV machine starts beeping like it’s going to explode for a half an hour straight until a nurse who can turn it off finally comes in
7. When you start to memorize the schedule that the nurses come in your room every night (around 11:30 and 4)
8. When everyone calls you by your middle name because apparently those aren’t a thing here, and they always see it before your first
9. When one of your doctors tells you that unfortunately hospitals in real life are not like the movies (aka Grey’s Anatomy)
10. When you play games like “take a gulp of water every time Netflix buffers” to stay even more hydrated
I‘m super ecstatic to have gotten released from the hospital today! I’m thankful to have had such caring nurses and doctors helping me get better every step of the way. Also, thank you so much to all of you who have been praying for me as I’ve been recovering. I’m so grateful to have such a caring community all around me. I’ll be taking tonight to rest and recover before re-joining my team in the morning! I love you guys!
