It’s crazy how different this week was from last week. I’m so thankful to be feeling 100% better and able to enjoy every aspect of each day. I feel like a whole new person! One major shift in terms of ministry has been that we now have the freedom to choose what we want to invest our time in every day. Previously we were separated by teams, but now we can form teams based on our passions and interests. A ministry that I have personally really enjoyed has been going to the library.

It’s been a joy getting to know Maricella, who is the sweet woman who pours her heart and soul into the library and the children who come there. It was such a blessing to be able to be an extra set of hands for her, since she is the only one who works there, and it can be tough to get things done with so many children running around. For the most part, what Maricella has asked us to do is to make new signs for the walls of the library. There were many that were falling apart, had gotten dirty over time, and were hard to read. So we got to re-write them on brightly colored construction paper and tape them onto the walls. A couple of the larger tasks she asked us to do were creating a new alphabet to go across the wall and creating a new caterpillar out of circles with all the kids’ names to go across another wall.

It was so cool to get to see the library transformed before our eyes. Some of the other women on my squad took the time to repair books and put labels on the spines so they could be organized by author’s last name. And of course, there were always a few of us who dedicated time to reading to the kids. I’m not gonna lie, I felt super accomplished after my first three days there, and I loved seeing Maricella’s face light up each time we finished one of her projects. We also got the privilege to pray over her, her health, and the future of the library.

God has also been showing me through this experience and in my quiet time that He can make all things new. Just like how there is never a book that was too far gone in the library, we are never too far gone for His love. He has given me a fresh understanding of what it means to be His daughter. God has reassured me of the freedom that He has secured for me, shown me the depth of His faithfulness, that in Him I have no reason to fear, and that as His creation I should be a reflection of His goodness and His greatness.

“And God-Enthroned spoke to me and said, ‘Consider this! I am making everything to be new and fresh. Write down at once all that I have told you, because each word is trustworthy and dependable.'” -Revelation 21:5 (TPT)
