“My name is Clive Muziwendoda Herbst and I would like to personally appreciate your visits. Luckily, I’m here way after you all return home and I witness the lasting impact you ladies leave behind every year. Its really beautiful, some get inspired to do amazing things. It’s like they get these vibrations from you that juice them up. Some change their lives from then onwards its just magic to watch the change. I honestly do see God at work through you, from boosting self esteems to inspiring them to be better. I’m here all year round and I barely make an impact so thank you very much for the angels you leave here with us.”

This paragraph was written at the bottom of a piece of notebook paper, with an original poem about Africa on the top portion of the paper. It was given to my team, as a gift from a 23-year-old man from the community named Clive. He comes to the carepoint for a free meal and to hang out. I have not gotten to know Clive in the same way that some of my other teammates have, but the poem and the message at the bottom was still very special. It is sweet to know that someone who has been in the community for a while sees the lasting impact that our visits make. I hope y’all enjoy reading his note as much as I did.
