This month our entire squad is staying in Livingstone, Zambia to work with an organization called JZone (Jesus Zone). We have been working hard all month to clear a plot of land so that it can be used as a day camp for the local children where they can just play, be free, and learn about Jesus.
I was SO excited when we got here because we had a whole month of manual labor. I love building relationships and getting the chance to pour into people, but when we’re only in each country for a month, you don’t often get to see the fruit of the seeds being sown. Doing manual labor, you know you’re going to see something visibly change regardless of what it is. So to be able to have the opportunity to take an overgrown 5-acre plot of land and breathe life into it is incredible. All month our team has slashed (cutting the grass with machetes), raked grass, dug holes…lots of holes, put up a fence, painted a bathroom, and picked up trash around the property with the ultimate goal of hosting two day camps before we left Zambia!
The transformation of this property from when we got here until now is astounding. Even though the Lord doesn’t always allow us to see the fruits of the seeds being planted, what a sweet treat it is when He does. All of our work paid off because yesterday we hosted 60 kids for the first ever day camp at JZone and it was a complete success!!!
Also, our squad is trying to raise funds to be able to bless our ministry with a storage building and equipment to fill it with! We have three days left to fundraise as much as we can and every little bit will bless them immensely. Check out their story at http://give.adventures.org/campaign.asp?campaignID=1093!
Sorry for the lack of blogs this month. I’m going to try and have another one by this Saturday to share with you guys what the Lord has been speaking to me this month, so stay tuned! Thanks for reading!
