It’s my joy and my privilege that team Komboa’s primary
ministry this month is at New Faith
Family Christian
Home.
An orphanage operated by Kids International Ministries just
up the street from the base.
Thirty-three children call this place home while they wait
for adoption by a family from somewhere other than the Philippines
because they’ve been passed on (for various reasons) by Filipino families.

I, along with Glenalyn,
Leyna, Emily, Andrea, and Margie (from N Squad) get to
spell the nursery staff this month while they take a much deserved break.
Spelling the nursery staff means I get to spend my month
with three precious faces – LisaRae*, RickyBobby*, and Tyrone*.

All it took was one six hour shift for me to fall in love on Tuesday –
because LisaRae’s smile lights up a room. And while RickyBobby can be ornery, his laugh
is the kind that draws out laughter in everyone around him.
And Tyrone. Precious Tyrone – he’s the quietest of the three,
and trying to engage him in what is going on around him can be so hard (he rarely seems interested in doing what LisaRae and RickyBobby want to do), but the second he does… my heart goes soaring.

These are my kids this month, and I can’t imagine how much
more so I will feel that way by the time I leave.
Because they’ve stolen my heart in ways I have no capacity
to describe.
And it will break my heart to go.
