I guess that’s what makes me and Sally two of a kind.

Who is Sally?
She’s seven years old, and her home is the children’s home I
worked at last month.
I got to love on her our last full week of ministry because
she was in my group for VBS.
She’s incredibly affectionate (her hugs are amazing and one
of the things I’ll miss most about the Philippines), smart, spunky…
And she’s missing.

Sometime early this morning, Sally woke up one of the girls
she shared a room with and told her, “I’m going home.”
‘Home’ isn’t a home at all.
It doesn’t even exist.
But Sally decided to go back to ‘it’.

Remember how I said she was smart?
Last night/early this morning, there was a huge repentance
walk along the main road we take to go anywhere.
Thousands of people doing this.
Who is going to notice a little girl in the midst of it all?
Especially a girl who knows how to beg and barter and take
jeepneys places on her own?

It’s hard to fathom why Sally would do this.
Why run away from a place where you have a bed to sleep in,
three meals a day, and room to play and be a child?
It’s hard to fathom until you realize that we flock to what
we know…
Even if we’re turning our back on freedom.

But it’s time to move past that, folks.
We’ve got freedom.
Now it’s time to live like we’ve got it.
